Violin

Add some elegance and class to your special occasion with solo violin, perfect for any event

Violin - what I can do for you

- I will be playing pieces solo, without backing, bringing an authentic, natural violin sound

- I can play any music you like, acoustic violin would make lovely background music for events, or violin-ing you down the aisle!

- I'm happy to collaborate and perform alongside other musicians

I am currently growing my business, so this will no doubt grow and evolve over time, so if I can't help now, keep checking back!

Fiddle Sticks - Violin or fiddle?

I have been playing violin for thirty years and a question I have been asked a lot is, "Is there a difference between fiddle and violin"? In short, the answer is not really, fiddle is commonly used to describe folk styles and the strings on 'fiddles' are sometimes placed closer to the fingerboard.

So, what do I play?

I'm classically trained, having been taught by Devorina Gamelova, but have since moved over to the 'dark side'! I have been a member of the Bristol Reggae Orchestra since 2016 and have enjoyed playing at various community events, concert halls and festivals, including Glastonbury in 2023.

I have a deep love for jazz, reggae and folk, but in all honesty, if you play me a piece of music featuring violin, I will more than likely love it.

Violin Story

I started playing the violin aged six and continued to take lessons throughout school, I joined various orchestras over the years including the Portsmouth Youth Orchestra and took part in various music competitions. I studied Music at A-Level as well as a BTEC in Advanced Musical Studies. I had lessons with Devorina Gamalova, and performed regularly alongside peers.

At university, I studied Music alongside Creative Writing, after some disappointments, I took a new route with the violin, which was fuelled while working at Hobgoblin Music. I taught for a little while and have been to The Benedetti Sessions to learn more about becoming a good teacher. You can read more about my journey in my bio.

"I feel really blessed to have been taught by Devorina Gamalova and had access to so much music in my life. I'm  thankful to be able to play the violin and I really want to encourage everyone to 'have a go' at music. You're never too old to learn and it can bring so much joy and be life changing in a good way, for yourself and other people too."
